Dempsey Gibson is an American television and film writer, producer, actor, and musician based in Los Angeles, California. Originally hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Gibson grew up in Kannapolis and Charlotte, North Carolina, where he began his filmmaking journey as an award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and drummer.
Transitioning to film and television, Dempsey Gibson has developed a diverse portfolio that includes over 14 projects across various genres, such as comedies, psychological thrillers, horror, and dramas.
In 2023, he co-wrote the original script for the horror feature film Spaghetti, which garnered acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival market circuits and has been distributed on major streaming platforms, including Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.
In September 2025, Dempsey Gibson signed with Zero Gravity Management, a premier talent management and production company, to represent his extensive catalog of television and film projects—a significant milestone featured in an article by Deadline Hollywood.
His active development slate features Purple Reign, a dramedy film tribute to the musician Prince, with a cast that includes Grammy Award-winning legend Deniece Williams, Tony winner Melba Moore, and actress Erin Ownbey (Ozark, Atlanta, The Hunting Wives). Additionally, he is working on the optioned comedy series Inherent Problems starring actress Betsy Beutler (You're The Worst, Scrubs, Cold Case) as well as Love in Black and White, a four-part docuseries directed by Antonia Bogdanovich and hosted by actress and author Carrie Keagan, which explores interracial relationships.
As an actor, Dempsey Gibson has appeared in numerous high-profile network television series and feature films. His notable on-screen credits include roles in The American Society of Magical Negroes, Griselda, Bosch: Legacy, Abbott Elementary, The Santa Clauses, Barry, The Pitt, and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
Beyond his work in creative production at Dempsey Gibson Productions LLC, he is also an industry journalist who has contributed political and entertainment columns to the Los Angeles Times and Heart of Hollywood Magazine.
A respected figure in the indie film community, he served on the celebrity judges panel for FilmFreeway’s "Ladies in Filmmaking" Contest from 2023 to 2025.
