Dempsey Gibson is an American television and film writer, producer, actor, and musician based in Los Angeles, California. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Gibson spent his youth in Kannapolis and Charlotte, North Carolina, where he established an early career as an award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and drummer.
Shifting his focus to film and television, Gibson has built a prolific multi-genre portfolio encompassing over 14 projects, spanning comedies, psychological thrillers, horror, and dramas.
In 2023, he co- wrote the original script for the horror feature film Spaghetti, which earned accolades at the Cannes Film Festival market circuits and secured distribution on major streaming platforms, including Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.
In September 2025, Gibson signed with the premier talent management and production company Zero Gravity Management to represent his extensive catalog of television and film projects—a milestone highlighted in a featured story by Deadline Hollywood.
His active development slate includes Purple Reign, a dramedy feature film tribute to the musician Prince. The cast includes Grammy Award-winning legend Deniece Williams, Tony winner Melba Moore and actress Erin Ownbey; the optioned comedy series Inherent Problems with actress Betsy Beutler; and Love in Black and White, a four-part docuseries exploring interracial relationships directed by Antonia Bogdanovich and hosted by actress and author Carrie Keagan.
As an actor, Gibson has appeared in a variety of high-profile network television series and major feature films. His notable on-screen credits include roles in The American Society of Magical Negroes, Griselda, Bosch: Legacy, Abbott Elementary, The Santa Clauses, Barry, The Pitt, and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
In addition to his creative production work, Gibson is an industry journalist who has contributed political and entertainment columns to the Los Angeles Times and Heart of Hollywood Magazine.
A respected voice in the indie film community, he served on the celebrity judges panel for FilmFreeway’s "Ladies in Filmmaking" Contest from 2023 through 2025.
